Gender inequality and gender-based violence against women are structural issues that affect the lives of many women in Kosovo and around the world. Earlier this week we held an informative discussion on the existing mechanisms against gender-based violence with women from the municipality of Lipjan who had the opportunity to hear from the people directly involved in fighting this phenomenon.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The discussion revealed the work of Lipjan’s Center for Social Work represented by Ms. Makfirete Shamolli, director of this institution and Ms. Fjolla Ibrahimi, a social worker, the Office for Gender Equality represented by Mr. Hasan Luma, as well as the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Unit which was represented by the coordinator Ms. Gjyste Dabaj.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The discussion was opened by the Executive Director of Kosovo – Women 4 Women, Mrs. Iliriana Gashi, and was moderated by project officer Laura Cakolli.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As part of the discussion, the short video “You are not Alone” was presented, a product of Kosova – Women 4 Women.<\/div>\n
During the discussion, the experts talked with the participants to convey different information about the forms of violence, the ways of fighting violence and the ways in which their institutions fight violence and contribute to a better life for the survivors of violence.<\/div>\n
This panel was organized within the project “Together Building Resilience”, funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund).<\/div>\n
